"Today people are realizing they have options to live without misalignment and discomfort from chronic stress."

WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE?

Rolfing® Structural Integration is a hands-on approach to release deeply ingrained patterns of misalignment, tension and strain. This method of manual therapy goes beyond conventional bodywork by balancing the body in gravity for long lasting or even permanent relief. Whatever the profession, passion or age, Structural Integration offers a pathway to greatly enhanced physical flexibility, vitality, and balance, leading to a profound sense of well-being and balance of the entire body within the gravitational field.

Traditionally, Structural Integration begins with ten 75 minute sessions every week or every other week. The Ten Series sessions are systematically designed to work with the varying layers of the fascia to bring individuals to higher order of structure and function leading to what Dr. Ida P Rolf termed as “integration.” Depending on the needs of the client, we may encounter less sessions than traditionally suggested. However, achieving individual goals is the main priority.

THE TEN SERIES

The hallmark of Rolfing Structural Integration is known as the “recipe” developed by Dr. Ida P Rolf. The overarching goal of the Ten Series is to systematically balance and optimize both the structure (shape) and function (movement) of the entire body over the course of ten 75 minute Rolfing sessions. The overall goal of Rolfing is to release articular motion restrictions that impede the whole body organization, while working within the client’s level of comfort through a series of ten sessions. Each session focuses on freeing restrictions in various segments of the body. The Rolfing practitioner remains present to the client’s input and consent throughout every session ensuring that the transformational process evolves in a comfortable and harmonious way.

The ten series can be divided into three distinct groups: Sleeve, Core, and Integration.

The first three sessions of the classic Ten Series (sessions 1-3) are called the “sleeve” sessions because they work to bring ease and balance to the surface layers of fascia in order to safely access the deep structures.

The second group sessions (sessions 4-7) are called the “core” sessions because they work to bring length and differentiation at a deeper level. The core sessions hold the key that unlocks the potential for integration.

The third group of sessions (sessions 8 -10) is known as the “integration” sessions. These sessions provide the opportunity to connect the actualized changes previously achieved to changes yet to be realized so the client can function more as a whole.

The 10 Series "recipe"

The 1st session will focus on enhancing the quality of breath by working on the arms, ribcage, and diaphragm. The first session also aims to establish a vertical dimension in the client’s awareness.

The 2nd session focuses on establishing more balance and support by working on the feet and lower legs. Session two also aims to mobilize the right to left dimension in the client’s awareness.

The 3rd session aims to establish awareness of front to back dimensions, creating a more balanced relationship between the shoulder girdle and rib cage, and the pelvis and rib cage.

The 4th session’s goals are to begin the journey into the deeper layers by lengthen the mid-line, awakening a sense for the front of the spine, and differentiate the legs from the pelvis.

The 5th session focuses on balancing the relationship between the pelvis and the ribs, and creating more mobility in the low back.

The 6th session aims to bring more support and adaptability for legs, pelvis and low back.

The 7th session focuses on “putting the head on” thereby relating the head and neck to the rest of the structure.

During the 8th & 9th sessions the Rolfing practitioner determines the best strategy based on the individual needs of the client.

The 10th and final session serves to bring balance, inspiration, and continuity of transformation onto a path of health and well being for a long time to follow…

Through using refined techniques of applying pressure, “The Certified Rolfer” softens and lengthens the fascia which in turn frees the body from constriction.

"Rolfing releases tension, tightness, and restrictions that are held in the connective tissue, which surrounds all muscle fibers, bones, nerves, and organs."
